co. “determine” that it might “compromise national security.”

These are the same people who labeled small government advocates potential “domestic terrorists!” Who cares what they “determine”?

Even more ridiculous, H.R. 2159 says that the courts “must” rely on Eric Holder’s personally “redacted versions” or “summaries” of the “evidence” he supposedly has against you . . .

. . . and he never has to release the evidence he claims to have!

They could annul your Second Amendment rights and convict you in a court of “law” without a shred of actual evidence . . . legally!

NAGR needs your help today to stop H.R. 2159 from progressing any farther. Click here to contribute.

You already know Attorney General Eric Holder is Barack Obama’s most ruthless anti-gun henchman.

And we all know what Barack Obama himself thinks of gun owners.

As a candidate, he claimed you and I were “bitter” uneducated folks “clinging” to guns out of hatred and frustration.

And now as President, he and Surveillance Czar Janet Napolitano have gone a step further in declaring gun rights activists and pro-gun voters domestic terrorist threats.

To make matters worse, Republican scalawags Mike Castle and Mark Kirk -- both notorious anti-gunners -- are working with Obama and Carolyn McCarthy to strip you of your most fundamental freedoms.

If H.R. 2159 becomes law, Eric Holder -- or any other Attorney General for that matter -- will be allowed to disarm you based on your political views without having to provide any evidence for his claims.

The National Association for Gun Rights is ready to stop H.R. 2159, the Disarming American Citizens Act.

I’m committed to this fight. Are you?

I hope you realize how dangerous this bill is. And I hope I can count on you to help fund our new program.

Without your help, the National Association for Gun Rights will be unable to notify and mobilize gun owners across the country to combat this newest infringement on our constitutional rights.

That is why it is imperative that you send in your most generous donation possible.

Let me give you an idea of what gun owners are up against.

With anti-gun Barack Obama in the White House, and Nancy Pelosi ruling the House of Representatives with an iron fist, our only hope to stop the Disarming American Citizens Act is in the Senate.

As I’ve told you before, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid finds himself between a rock and a hard place.

Even as his re-election to the Senate from pro-gun Nevada is very much in doubt, anti-gunners like Sarah Brady and MoveOn.org are pressuring him to do their bidding in Washington.

To break a politician like Harry Reid, NAGR needs to stir up a hornet’s nest of discontent among gun owners across the country and especially in targeted states like Nevada.

The good news is we have the ability to contact hundreds of thousands of gun owners by phone, fax, email and traditional mail.

Unfortunately, reaching gun owners in a timely manner takes resources we simply don’t have.

Fighting for our right to keep and bear arms isn’t cheap.

For example, with the recent postage increases, it now costs the National Association for Gun Rights well over $1000 to produce and mail a letter to 1000 gun owners.

But no matter what, we simply cannot let H.R. 2159, the Disarming American Citizens Act, become law.

That’s why it’s imperative you take a moment to send in your most generous donation possible.

$50, $100, $150 or $200 will make a huge difference in our fight to stop H.R. 2159.

Go here to contribute http://nagr.org/FollowUpDonate1.aspx?pid=2

You have a right to remain silent

It Doesn't Have to Make Sense: It's Just the Law - Statements

"...Written statement: a VERY BAD idea! ...."

by K.L. Jamison

In 1996, an unhappy consumer attacked the City Marshal of Lancaster, Missouri
with a hammer.(1) The Marshal defended himself and later vented his adrenaline
to the responding Sheriff stating, "I hope the son-of-a-bitch is dead." This led
to the Marshal's conviction for involuntary manslaughter and a sentence of seven
years in prison.(2) The story had a happy ending, but a story four years and
tens of thousands of dollars in the making, and not a story the Marshal enjoyed
very much. The Marshal might have avoided the worst part of the story had he not
confused his right to remain silent with the right of free speech.

In the movie, Under Pressure, a woman tried to explain the stalking and implied
threats of a neighbor. After a disorganized and unconvincing recitation of
ambiguous events she lamely concludes, "I'm not a very good story teller." Most
people tell stories badly. In the aftermath of self-defense there can be a giddy
stream of consciousness statement which has more to do with the effects of
adrenaline than reality. The basic legal advice is "DON'T."

The first question is, "What is a statement?" In a nation which counts exotic
dancing as freedom of speech, a statement is also broadly construed. In 1996,
the Missouri Supreme Court ruled that a suspect's refusal to uncross his legs
during questioning could be taken as a statement when later charged with
murder.(3) In a separate death penalty case, the court found that the defendant
had purchased a used car which sported the bumper sticker, "I'm the person your
mother warned you about." At trial the prosecution argued that the fact he did
not remove this bumper sticker revealed something about his character. The
Missouri Supreme Court ruled that it was perfectly acceptable for the state to
kill this man, in part, because of his failure to remove the bumpersticker.(4)
One can imagine the effect of bumper stickers bought in jest such as, "Keep
Honking, I'm Reloading." If this case does not also inspire a re-evaluation of
one's T-shirt collection, nothing will.

There is also the problem of nicknames. As of this writing, a rapper who
rejoices in the stage name "C-Murder" is on trial for murder. If I were asked to
defend a man named "Murder" or any variation thereof, I would charge more.
Massad Ayoob testified in favor of a police officer who had killed a felon
nicknamed "Snake." Captain Ayoob slipped the nickname into his testimony which
seems to have had an effect on the jury.

Written statement, a VERY BAD idea!

There is a cynical defense attorney saying: "Anything you say will be misquoted
and used against you." In the movie, My Cousin Vinnie, two, unfortunate Yankees
are suspected of murder and during questioning are accused of shooting a clerk.
One incredulously asked, "I shot the clerk?" This is taken down and read in
court as a confession. Theater audiences laughed, defense attorneys smiled and
nodded. There have even been cases where comments by other persons have been
attributed to the defendant, and used against him; complete silence is the only
bulwark against these mistakes.

The first statement is the 911 call. These calls are recorded and if the call
sounds bad for the defendant, it will be played over and over again at trial. In
one case, a man cocked his double-action revolver and went after a person who
was shooting out windows. When he caught up with the threat he extended his
revolver and in the process tripped the light single action trigger pull;
arguably an accidental discharge. His 911 call records him saying that he
thought he had just shot someone. The 911 operator, trained to keep him on the
line and keep him talking, asked why he thought he had shot someone. The man
replied, "Lady, I think I'm a pretty good shot." This callous-sounding statement
took accident off the table and the man had to live or die with a self-defense
case. This all important introduction to law enforcement must be planned in
advance.

The first words out of the caller's mouth should be the location of the
incident. If the battery then dies, or the minutes run out, or some other
technological catastrophe occurs the authorities will know that something of
interest is at that location, and the caller's cell phone records can prove that
he or she made the call. The next statement is the caller's name. The core of
the 911 call consists of three sentences:

"He tried to kill me."

"I was never so scared in my life."

"Send an ambulance."(5)

The first sentence serves to introduce the roles of the parties, the caller is
the victim, the other person the attacker. Being in reasonable fear of life or
limb is a prerequisite to acting in self-defense. The phrase "I was never so
scared..." is to preclude the prosecutor from claiming that the citizen never
said he was scared "until he talked to a lawyer."(6) The phrase "Send an
ambulance" says that the caller does not want anyone to die.

When the police arrive, they will want a more elaborate statement; this should
consist only of:

1. He attacked me.

2. I will sign a complaint.

3. There is the evidence.

4. I WANT A LAWYER.

Good Advice.

This restates part of the 911 call and points out critical evidence. One cannot
expect the "CSI" team to be called out to pick up every fiber and hair. If a
real forensic team routinely conducted the investigations shown on television,
its budget would last about a week.

The demand for a lawyer is both the best thing one can do, and a damaging
statement. Anyone who is questioned by police has the right to a lawyer; this
includes victims. The problem is that the police, and potential jurors, take a
demand for a lawyer as evidence of something to hide. To compound the problem,
the victim's decision to remain silent and demand for a lawyer can be used again
him or her in court. In the criminal system, one does not have rights, until
arrested; it doesn't have to make sense, it's just the law. It is a left-handed
fortune that people who act in self-defense are routinely arrested. It may be
called something else such as "detained" or given the "Alice in Wonderland"
explanation "You're being handcuffed for your own protection." Whenever a person
is not allowed to leave, he is placed under arrest regardless of descriptive
terms. If one is arrested, generations of TV shows advise us to remain silent.

Western Missouri Shooters Alliance President Sheila Stokes-Begley
employs a cell phone and CZ75 compact.

If the circumstances are ambivalent, simply state a fear of being sued, and
demand a lawyer to protect against frivolous litigation. Bernard Goetz was
acquitted of criminal charges in the shooting of four thugs on the subway, but
was sued for $43 million and lost. Police are frequently sued by criminals and
the explanation is likely to ring a bell.

Self-defense cases bring out the curious, the media in the forefront. Comments
to friends will be confused and used against you, comments to family will be
mistaken and used against you. Both family and friends can be subpoenaed and
forced to testify against you. Comments to the media will be sensationalized and
this is never good. The New York City prosecutor's office had determined not to
charge Bernard Goetz, until he made unwise remarks to the news media. At some
point a statement must be made. The impression is that the earlier a statement
is made, the more reliable it is. In reality, the earlier a statement is made,
the less reliable it is. The effects of stress will confuse the statement and
even cause temporary amnesia. Inaccuracies in the initial statement will
convince authorities that the survivor is both a liar and a murderer. A lawyer
must be immediately engaged to organize the statement.

A lawyer is a professional storyteller. He will not tell the client how to lie,
he will tell him how to tell the truth, a more complicated process than most
imagine. The statement must contain facts which track the elements of
self-defense. In the case of defense of home or defense of other persons, there
may be other elements as well. Knowledge of the assailant's reputation for
violence would certainly be relevant. The most important element to include is
fear. A police statement is no place for macho posturing. One cannot use
violence against another person unless in fear of life or limb. The survivor
must go over every detail of why he or she was terrified, weak-kneed,
pants-pissing afraid. If one does foul one's pants, a not uncommon event, make
sure that goes into the statement. No matter how ineffective a storyteller the
survivor might be, the jury is sure to believe that.

(1)1 A City Marshal is a law enforcement officer position used in Third and
Fourth Class towns in Missouri.

(2) State v Beeler, 12 S.W.3d 294 (Mo. 2000) at 296.

(3) State v Kinder, 942 S.W.2d 313 (Mo en banc 1996) at 325.

(4) State v Six, 805 S.W.2d 159 (Mo. Not only is the price manipulated, but so is the news coverage!

Of course, the media could give opinions the other way, and say, "With silver lagging gold, it shows that gold has much further to run, and also silver is due to catch up and exceed gold's pace, thus making silver the much better buy now." Or, after silver outperforms, they could say, "Silver's outperformance has confirmed everything the silver bulls have been saying for the last ten years." But they never do that, do they?!

As it is, the price ratio changed from 64 on Friday to 62 on Monday, so silver far outperformed gold on Nov. 16th.

Gold moved from $1118.50 on Friday to $1139.80, a rise of $21.3/oz., or a 1.9% increase.
Silver moved from $17.42 on Friday to $18.40, a rise of $.98/oz., or 5.6% increase.

Silver sure didn't lag behind gold on that day!

So, is all news that is bearish on silver evidence of "manipulation?" Of course not. Some commentators are not colluding on purpose, they are simply willfully ignorant.
For example, here is an independent Christian newsletter writer named Gary North who writes:
Why Silver Is a Poorer Investment Than Gold (Nov. 14th)
http://www.garynorth.com/public/5700print.cfm
You'd think he could have timed his article better. He published on Nov. 14th, and was proven wrong in less than 48 hours!

Nearly everything Gary writes in that article is not really the whole truth. I'm shocked to read his take on silver. After all, he has written perhaps the most thorough economic commentary on the Bible that exists (very long, quite good, but could use a bit of improvement).
http://www.garynorth.com/public/department57.cfm

So I don't think he's an agent of the banks, so I think it must be ignorance that is distorting his judgment, or perhaps his age. I've tried to answer his questions on silver over the years, but he has not replied with reason, but rather with emotion, so there must be something more at work here, but I don't know what it could be. He wrote last year:

Jason Hommel Tells Me Off: I Do Not Understand Commodities, Silver, and Especially the Bible. He Demands That I Answer Him.
http://www.garynorth.com/public/4002.cfm

So, this and his other essays go to show he is not unfamiliar with my work, but rather, he has some sort of emotional rage against it. This is why I cannot excuse Gary as simply being ignorant of the statistics that he mocks, but rather, he is willingly ignorant.

But that's in the past. I want to refute his recent article, and get to the recent ten year relative performance of silver vs. gold. All we need is a gold/silver ratio price chart.

A quick search on google reveals a source. I trust gold-eagle.com: Here it is:
http://www.gold-eagle.com/charts/gegsr.html

The silver to gold ratio is the red line. You can see it topped out at 100 in 1990, when it took 100 oz. of silver to buy 1 oz. of gold. This ratio dropped to nearly 50 in 1997. It went back up to 80 both in 2003, and 2009, and now has gone back down to about 64, and now 62 today.

So, depending on the time frame, silver has out paced gold, or gold has out paced silver. As the red line goes down, silver is better. As the red line goes up, gold is better.

But if you use a selective time frame, only 10 years, you can see that the silver to gold ratio was about 60 ten years ago, and is 62 today, showing that gold slightly outperformed during that selective time period in question. But what is the main thrust of Gary's argument? That the future must be like the past? And that the past only consists of the last ten years? Clearly, neither premise is not even remotely true, and the entire argument would deny the reality of economic cycles. Clearly, Gary is not ignorant of the economic cycle, so why did he forget that his argument would not be valid? Did emotionalism get the best of Gary?

As we can see from the big picture, Gold would have been a better investment than silver until 1990, the key turning point. Gary's claim to the foundation of his "correctness" is being good at making interim market calls, and that he is old. Did he tell his subscribers to load up on silver in 1990? I have no idea. Did Gary tell his subscribers to load up on silver when it hit $8.50/oz. in the last year? No. I know. I've been a paying subscriber of his since he tried to discredit me. In his own words, "His "market calls" were utterly useless when it mattered."

Furthermore, the dollar/gold price charts, and dollar/silver price charts do not "tell all" as he claims. Such charts contain zero information about how many dollars have been printed up in the past, and have yet to show up in futures prices of the metals. Such charts contain zero information about how much silver has been consumed and lost in the age of electronics that have ended up in landfills at concentrations too low to economically recover. It is only bad theory that the price charts contain "all the information" you need to know to make a future prediction on prices.

The charts Gary chose to present are not even "objective facts". All gold/dollar and silver/dollar price charts are misleading, as the dollar is not a constant measuring tool, but a varying one. What if I showed you a growth chart of my 15 month old boy, but used a ruler made out of silly putty and stretched it at different rates at varying intervals? Certainly, nobody would call such a chart an "objective fact". Charts are also not "objective facts" when you can produce them over select time frames to distort the overall picture. Gary's price charts from the year 2000 are not as useful as the long term ratio chart above, if you want to try to use a chart to make long term predictions.

Is anyone here planning on living for longer than a time frame of the next ten years? (Well, Gary might not, he's old, remember.) If you plan to live longer, you might want to consider longer time frames. I know I want to. After all, I'm only 39, and if I live to be 90, I can use an investment that might not pay off in 10 years, or even 20, but should come to fruition within my time frame of up to the next 50 years. For me, silver is it.

After Gary claims that non-facts are facts, he then tells his readers to beware of statistics, because the long term statistics that the silver bulls have been presenting for the last 10 to 40 years have not yet shown up in relative price performance (even though they have).

But the facts from the ratio chart prove that silver has been outperforming gold for 19 years now, and thus, perhaps Gary should have been paying attention to both the facts and statistics for silver.

In fact, it might be considered somewhat of a miracle that silver has outperformed gold for the last 19 years, while no nation on earth has yet returned to using silver as money! Think about that!

Since Gary seems to not want to be bothered with either facts or statistics, I'll just paint the broad picture, with limited numbers, so that maybe he can wrap his mind around the major changes that have happened during his lifetime.

Nearly 300 years ago, back in 1717, the Bank of England started devaluing silver, in favor of a "gold standard".
http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=401484

This was really a change to a paper standard, since gold was valued in terms of paper money, no longer valued in terms of real silver, but only "token" silver. This continued until Germany left silver in the late 1800's. This created a glut of silver, which continued to devalue silver, until all nations on earth stopped using silver as money, and as each one left silver, it created a glut of silver on the world marketplace. This reduced monetary demand has continued to make silver a bargain for the last 100 years. The last great mintage of silver coins was in the US in 1964. After that, the US only made 40% half dollars for a few years, (we have three $1000 face value bags of 40% silver for sale at 6% over spot, that's 295 oz/bag x spot x 1.06). Call us at (530) 273-8175 to own a true "abomination", a real life example of an "unjust weight and measure" from our own nation's recent history, today!

You can see the declining value for silver over a 600 year inflation adjusted silver chart:

http://goldinfo.net/silver600.html

You may note that this chart is in stark contrast to the flatline chart showed by Gary North.

But something interesting happened towards the end of this multi hundred year long trend of demonetizing silver.

At the end of World War II, the age of electronics began. Prior to WWII, most families in the US did not have many electrical devices. After the second great war, homes began buying things like refrigerators, washing machines and dryers, dishwashers, blenders, toaster ovens, electric can openers, TV sets, air conditioners, and much more, of course.

If you look at the "statistics" you can see that the per capita consumption of silver in the USA increased by about ten times in about a 3 year period, and it has stayed rather high at about 6 tenths of an ounce per person per year ever since.

Another funny thing happened. The age of electronics was not limited to the USA, but went out to many nations, even our former enemies in WWII, and even other nations around the world began to industrialize, and they, too, began consuming silver in electronic gadgets.

Gary has written a lot of crazy things like "you can safely ignore" arguments because it would show up in the price if true. Well, it already has, and it probably continue to do so, even more so, in the future! Trends well established for over 100 years that get hit by another major counter trend that began over 60 years ago might take a bit of time to show up, and it appears it began to, 19 years ago. It did show up rather spectacularly in the 1980 spike, where a tiny bit of money from one man who tried to buy some silver on leverage was smashed by the paper money powers. That was merely the foreshadow warning of what will happen when many billionaires or tens of thousands of millionaires demand real money (silver).

But Gary ignores all that, saying that the only thing that matters is recent price performance over 10 years as measured by a bad measure, the dollar. Wow.

He also has the gall to claim that men like myself issued no warnings about the decline in the silver price. Again, another example of his willful ignorance.

I have been warning that the gold and silver markets are manipulated by the selling of paper futures contracts for at least 8 years now.

In fact, I specifically warned about the manipulation when silver hit $16/oz., on the way down from $20 from early 2008. The article is very easy to understand, even for an old man, even though it does include a few numbers.

A Tribute to 7th Grade Math August 31, 2008

In that article, I pointed out that two banks sold 40 times as much paper silver as physical investors buy silver, in one month, which crashed the price. What followed was other paper longs selling out of their positions that continued to crash the price. This real world market action utterly refutes the textbook lie that futures contracts are supposed to help smooth out market prices. No, they do not. In actual fact, and truth, futures markets manipulate prices to great exaggeration, in both directions.

The manipulation of the markets by selling too much "paper gold and silver" is one of my main themes as a writer. See here:

Controlling Gold with Paper June 10, 2002
The Moral Failures of the Paper Longs Jan 22, 2003
Major Frauds of the U.S. Monetary System Feb 26, 2004
Silverstockreport.com: Silver Users Fear Silver Shortage Oct 27, 2005
The Silver ETF: What's the Deal? Feb 23, 2006
The Money Chart: The Fundamentals of Gold & Silver Feb 25, 2006
No Excitement by $800 gold November 2, 2007
Silver: There's Never Enough! January 15, 2008
I Don't Trade Futures April 4, 2008

Here's another good one for Gary:
Silver Keeping Pace with Gold; Set to Outpace Gold January 9, 2008

The last article, from Jan 2008, makes a good point:

The dollar, as a measuring stick, is broken. Gold at $850 in 1980 is not a valid price number as a reference, because a dollar in 1980 was worth more than today. We must adjust for inflation. And there are two ways to do that, first with lying government "consumer price index" statistics, which would give a price of about $2500/oz., or you can measure by money creation, which gives a price of about $7000 to $14,000. The $14,000 figure is if you include the recent $11 trillion in government bail out promises. By the time those prices are hit, adjusting for future inflation might give us even higher numbers. and a higher level of public participation in the gold and silver markets, and thus, higher relative silver prices to gold.

After all, let's remember that most Americans are trend investors, and gold and silver are putting down a nice, safe, solid, trend!

I'd also like to point out what I was saying in nearly every article I wrote in 2003-4:

"Long before 1% of U.S. paper dollars tries to buy gold, gold will be going up well over $1000/oz., and silver will be headed up over $50/oz."

Now that we are well over $1000/oz. for gold, we can easily measure how much US money is flowing into gold, and, in fact, I just measured that in my recent essays:

Grass Valley Buys 12 Times more Gold than National Average November 9th, 2009
Historic Gold Mine Area Residents Know Gold Prices are Too Low November 6th, 2009

America spends 00.013% of annual wealth (GDP) on less than 2% of the world's annual gold production.!!!

America needs to buy about 77 times more gold than at current rates, to exceed the spending of 1% of U.S. paper dollars on gold!!!

"One percent of $14.4 trillion is $144 billion. In a gold market that sees annual production of 80 million oz., such buying could double or quadruple the price, depending on how tight the market gets from competition from other nations buying."

Yes, I see, silver is not over $50/oz.!

But neither has 1% of the money in the USA started to buy gold, we are not even close! So just wait.

I did not buy silver to wait for the day that 0.013% of USA money would be flowing into gold. Did you?

No! I bought silver for the day when the dollar would become like toilet paper, and this implies that well over 50% of dollars will try to buy gold and silver at some point.
In actual fact, gold investors are buying silver. I know. We sell silver for gold! Furthermore, no customers have given us silver asking for gold. But we have had many customers trade their gold for silver!
I suppose i should not have tried to "tell it to Gary North" as he seems to suggest his retort will be to "tell it Jerome Smith". I know, I know, Jerome Smith was a silver bull who died. Maybe Gary is brain dead, too.
Gary is also such a fool that he has no idea that his own recommendation to buy 80% gold, and 20% silver, would cause silver to move up far more than gold. After all, the gold investment market is a $92 billion market. (80 million oz. x $1145/oz.). The silver market is 600 million oz. produced per year, which, at $18.50, is an $11 billion market. If you spent 1/4 of $92 billion on silver, (20/80), that would be $23 billion.

Please Gary, please tell us all how $23 billion will fit into the $11 billion silver market without the price moving up far more than for gold? And let's remember now, that the statistics show that most silver is consumed by industry, so if investors bought $23 billion worth of silver and consumed all new mining production, then no new mining production could go towards any industrial consumption!

The silver investment market is a much tinier $2 billion market (100 million oz. out of 600 million oz. produced x $18.50/oz.). Gary is suggesting that more than ten times as much money should go into silver as currently does! If everyone followed Gary's advice, silver would probably have to move up at least five to maybe ten times higher than gold, just to accomodate the 80/20 investment that Gary suggests! Of couse, that's mine production. But if we consider above ground supplies, well, I'll let Gary try to research that. He may well find that above ground supplies for silver are more rare than gold, and I did say I was going to try to stay away from such statistics.

I'll leave out the numbers, and I'll note that all the gold ever mined in all of human history would fit into two Olympic sized swimming pools. And probably less silver than that is remaining!

So ironic. Gary's analysis is so poor. But if it were any better, would silver prices remain so low? When men like him continually mock silver, while speaking out of their own ignorance, is it any wonder the price remains low?

But since I'm a silver investor who has 3 times as much silver as gold, I really can't complain. After all, if the world knew what I knew, silver would already be several thousand dollars per ounce, or much higher!

===============

I strongly advise you to get real gold and silver, at anywhere near today's prices, while you still can.
See the JH MINT, and some of our gold inventory, at Youtube here (we also now have Gold Buffalo 24k coins):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-ocXNbdEeU

Call us today.

Yes, we sell silver, and gold at the JH MINT!
Buy it now! In 2008, Hommel was selling 5000 ounces of silver per day. He could have sold more, but the turn around times were the limiting factor. It took about 2-4 weeks to obtain 1000 oz. bars, and it took another 3-8 weeks to manufacture 1 oz. rounds. Selling any more than 5000 oz. per day would risk selling out. On a peak day in 2008, Hommel sold 13,800 oz. of silver, which weighed nearly 1000 pounds.

During the fall of 2008, most coin shops around the nation, and around the world, were sold out of silver, and most continue to hold very little silver in inventory.

In contrast, the JH MINT holds over 30,000 oz. of physical silver in inventory at the present time.

After minting nearly 300,000 rounds at a cost of $.50 each but which took over 8 weeks, or minting at $1.50 per round for a faster turn around time, it seemed feasible to found the JH MINT, both to save costs, and to speed up the turn around time.

Opening up a coin shop at the front of the JH MINT was an afterthought. Hommel explains, "I didn't really expect that the community of Grass Valley and Nevada City of about 30,000 people would be able to support a coin shop of our capitalization and size. Usually shops of our size are located near a big city. When my family was buying silver and gold, I was driving all the way down to the Bay Area to buy bullion. Fortunately, our national auctions of silver got big enough to be able to support founding the JH MINT, which allowed for space for the coin shop in the front of the building. So, technically, our shop did not need to be supported by local dealing, we do more business on a national basis, shipping everywhere in the USA."

"However, we have sold about 9 times as much to the public than we have bought, so we have had to re-supply from other gold and silver wholesalers. For over 15 years, the opposite was usually the case, where coin shops would generally buy from the public, and then dump to refiners. But in 2008, the public turned into net buyers when silver prices exceeded $20/oz., and when gold exceeded $1000/oz. for the first time.

"I was pleasantly surprised by our good business volumes the first month of operation, which showed comparable volumes to the Rocklin Coin Shop, which has been in operation for 5 years, which we bought in April, 2009. Perhaps our national presence has helped our local marketing efforts, as many locals are aware of my newsletter at www.silverstockreport.com. And also, it seems our national sales volumes are up due to having founded and opened up a real mint, which seems to have helped our credibility, which is important in the gold and silver business.

"Locals living in our historic gold mining district seem to know that gold and silver prices are too cheap. After all, our town's gold mines are still mostly non operational. If gold prices were really too high, then our town would be a gold boom town again, and clearly it's not. We don't have any major new tunnels in construction, we don't have any mine shafts being built, the old Empire gold mine is still a museum, no timber is being clear-cut to support massive construction of underground tunnels, none of that is happening yet. I'm sure most locals are aware of the attempt of Emgold (www.emgold.com) to re-open the Idaho-Maryland Gold Mine, but it's still just in the development and feasibility phase.

Gold may be at "all time high prices" but those are in nominal terms. If you adjust for inflation, the high of $850/oz. in 1980 can be seen to be about $2,275, if adjusted for inflation in CPI terms. But those are "official government" inflation numbers, which understate inflation. A better inflation adjustment might be found in M3 numbers, or money in the banks, but the government is no longer reporting that statistic. Private sources suggest that M3 has grown by about 8 times since 1980, suggesting an inflation adjusted price of $6,800/oz.

Some have suggested that the US government might back the dollar with a 10% gold backing. But that is completely unrealistic. The JH MINT could back the dollar by 10%. To do that you just need to over value gold by about 10 times. If we offered gold at $11,000 per oz., I'm sure there would be no takers, and we could say that we have "enough gold" to back the dollar by 10%. So a partial gold backing for the currency is just a clever way to disguise the current fraud of the dollar. In truth, the US government cannot even back the dollar even 2% with gold. Official statistics show that the US government has 261 million oz. of gold. With money in the banks exceeding $14 trillion (and a trillion is a million million), that's $14 million / 261 = $53,639/oz.

But other researchers show that the US does not even have 261 million oz. (about 8117 tonnes) of gold, since www.GATA.org researchers suggest there was a 3000 tonne gold swap with Germany.

GATA's thesis is that central banks have been manipulating gold prices for the past 15 years, and are losing the battle to keep prices low. Central banks have been selling and leasing about 1000 tonnes of gold into the market each year, which suppresses the price, acting as additional, and unsustainable, supply. In 2008, central banks finally became net gold buyers.

This month, India bought 200 tonnes of gold from a long awaited sale of 400 tonnes of gold from the IMF. But since India was a custodian of IMF gold, this might have been short covering with no movement of physical gold.

India is now importing about 18% of the world's supply of gold, 450 tonnes per year, yet spends only 1% of India's GDP to do so.

I'd estimate that Americans, in general, purchase only about $2 billion of gold per year, out of a GDP of about $14,400 billion, showing that Americans spend 0.01% of GDP on 2% of the world's gold supply. Clearly, American sentiment is not setting the price, except to say that Americans are helping gold prices remain low by not buying it in significantly meaningful quantities.

In 2009, the US Mint has produced over 1 million oz. in Gold Eagle coins, and I'd estimate that gold eagle sales are half of what we sell to the American public. At $1000/oz., that suggests an annual demand of a paltry $2 billion for America.

Of course, many Americans buy the ETF's, or "exchange traded funds" or have "bullion accounts" with large banks. But those are probably all fraud, in my opinion, since the BIS, the Bank of International Settlements, has calculated the "over the counter" gold derivatives of as high as $600 billion, and in "other precious metals" accounts, which would be mostly silver, as high as $190 billion.

Those numbers are just impossibly high, since the total annual silver mine supply is about 600 million oz., which, at $17/oz., is only a $10 billion annual silver market.

It seems that most Americans who are aware of precious metals seem to know better than people around the world that silver is set to outperform gold.

World gold demand is $80 billion, while world silver investment demand is only $1 billion, or 1/10th of the silver market, with the rest of the silver going towards electronics, jewelry, flatware, and movie production.

So world investors buy 80 times as much gold as silver. But at our coin shop, it's about 50/50, with half of sales being silver, the other half being gold. Americans, while mostly not participating yet in buying gold and silver, do seem to understand that silver will outperform gold.

We have many customers who will bring in gold, and just swap it for silver. We don't have any customers who will give us silver for gold.

Warren Buffett made a curious comment about gold in 1998 at Harvard that has been quoted frequently since, "It gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head."

But gold has a perfect utility. It's a store of value. Anyone with half a brain knows that you protect valuable things from being stolen, you don't leave them unprotected, because there are dishonest people in the world. Gold protects men from other dishonest men. And that's quite a useful value, besides being valuable in itself.

And Gold becomes even more valuable, when other men cannot see the value of gold, because that's when you can buy it cheap, like today. And if you can buy gold cheap, then it's not only a good store of value, but probably it will be an excellent store of value, as it continues to gain in price much faster than most other investments.

Since 2001, gold has increased over four times from $250/oz, to $1090, the last quote on Thursday, Nov. 5th.

See the JH MINT, and some of our gold inventory, at Youtube here (we also now have Gold Buffalo 24k coins):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-ocXNbdEeU

Join our silver Eagle coin a month club at: http://silversnowball.com/15a and earn free silver eagles every month. Williams

There are three possibilities in the aftermath of a disaster, man-made or
otherwise:

1) You resolve to remain at home; you will stick it out there for as long as it
takes.
2) You have decided or are otherwise forced to evacuate.
3) The event occurred while you were away from home and you want to get back
there despite conditions or obstacles between you and the house.

In each case, I will assume that you have stockpiled some reasonable amount of
food and water and that you have or can construct shelter; basically, that you
have what you immediately need to stay alive and the wherewithal to keep going
until civilization in your area is rebuilt. If you don't have these already,
forget the guns until you get them.

After that, however, history has shown anyone that looks that it is unwise to
depend on the mass onset of nobility to prevent others from taking what they
need, or even just want, from what you have. So we're back to considering
weapons--in this case, (big surprise here) firearms.

I'm going to suggest a weapon system built around at least two and preferably
four weapons, that you have on hand at least 250 rounds of ammunition and 5
magazines (for magazine-fed weapons) for each gun, and that you keep cleaning
and simple maintenance tools, materials and supplies in stock to keep those
weapons functioning properly without help for an extended period of time. I do
not suggest that you empty your bank account, take out a second mortgage, or eat
nothing but Ramen noodles for months to get all of this.

I want this system to be easy to put together and inexpensive (as guns go) to
get, while allowing flexibility and expansion if you wish to pay for it. I want
this system to keep looters and criminals as far away from you as possible for
as long as it takes normal law enforcement coverage to be restored to your area.
I want this system to be easily packed and as portable as possible. The same
system should be able to stay at the house, travel with you as part of a vehicle
disaster kit, or go in the bug-out bag in the event you are forced to evacuate
the area.

Within those broader parameters, each part of the core system--the two-gun
minimum recommended--is intended to give you the best possible chance against my
estimated biggest threat--multiple hostiles with weapons either inside vehicles
or using light buildings, i.e. houses, for cover. The main difference between
the individual weapons is the range of engagement they are intended for. (Note:
There will be overlap! That's part of the plan.)

Get a street-by-street map of your neighborhood, or better yet get the free
version of Google Earth or similar mapping program, get an overhead view of your
address, and put a marker where your house is (Caution: Google Earth was off
about a block on my address. Make sure you identify your house). Now draw scale
circles around that mark at ten, 100, and 300 yards. That's what we're going to
be planning for.

The "hard core" of the system is a sidearm--a pistol or revolver--and a shoulder
arm--a carbine or rifle. (For purposes of this article I define a carbine as a
rifle chambered for pistol-caliber ammunition. Though there are such things as
rifle-caliber hunting pistols and pistols chambered for the .223 cartridge, they
will not be included in my working definition.) The pistol can be "dual-use" as
your carry gun as well as part of the disaster weapons system. If you are buying
for the first time or buying specifically for a kit, I recommend a widely-used
caliber to maximize your chances of getting inexpensive ammunition for storage
and to give you the greatest chance of getting ammo by scrounging or bartering
in an emergency. In the US currently, that appears to be .38, 9mm, .45, and
possibly .357 calibers of ammunition. Because of widespread adoption by police,
.40 might also be widely obtainable. The most common calibers in your area may
vary from my estimate. (If you do choose an uncommon caliber for your sidearm,
consider increasing the amount of stored ammunition and obtaining additional
weapons in more common calibers in case of supply interruptions.) Whatever brand
of ammunition you settle on should, of course, be tested in every gun it fits,
and stocks should be rotated from time to time. Very old ammunition is still
usable, but test some of those WWII vintage rounds just to make sure.

The pistol is the one that's always on you, the same as it is now. Whether you
wear it openly after an event or continue to conceal it will be up to you and
defined by the circumstances and environment. It is your "reactive" weapon,
intended to cover the shortest ranges, contact to around thirty feet (the
ten-yard circle). It may literally fulfill the purpose of being "what you use to
fight your way to your rifle."

Having a shoulder arm of the same caliber will simplify ammunition purchase and
storage choices. Some manufactures also produce carbines that can use the same
magazines as their pistols (Hi-Point and Kel-Tec come to mind; the Kel-Tec
carbine can be obtained in Glock, Beretta, and S&W variants, in fact). This
could simplify logistics and get you more for your money. The carbine part of
the weapons system is there to provide better precision (you can mount all
manner of optics on a shoulder arm that would be awkward or impossible to fit on
a pistol) at longer ranges. It could also be given to a partner while you use
the rifle, and/or assigned to family members who would be less comfortable with
a full-caliber rifle. The carbine will overlap the pistol in its use at the
ten-yard line, but its main use is for precision fire out to 100 yards. Though
there are very inexpensive rifles on the market (SKS for example), if cost is a
factor consider a common-caliber carbine as the first shoulder arm.

If only one shoulder arm is chosen, and cost or recoil tolerance is not
otherwise an issue, I recommend the purchase of a rifle. In fact, if you're only
going to get one weapon solely for protection in the aftermath of a disaster, it
should be a rifle or carbine. (For normal self-protection in normal times, it
should be a pistol or revolver.) Again, choose a commonly-available
caliber--most of what I see here is .223/5.56 or .308/7.62x51, but there are
enough imports of Russian designs around that you may find one of those calibers
easily available. In urban or most suburban areas, I would favor the .223/5.56
or the Russian 7.62x39. These calibers offers offer enough precision and power
(more precision with the .223/5.56, more power with the 7.62x39) over the ranges
I expect to face in a town or city. Also, the .223/5.56 will also be less likely
to go through walls you may not want to be piercing. (With frangible ammunition
the 5.56 has been shown to be less penetrative than even some 9mm rounds.
Realize that, even in the aftermath of a large scale disaster and resulting
extended loss of government control the rule of law will still apply; more
importantly, it will be applied following restoration of control. You will still
need to pay attention to laws governing use of force.)

In a rural area or some very spread-out towns and suburban areas I would give
some thought to the .308 or similar heavier-caliber rifle. Though the .223 can,
and does, do very well at the longer ranges of more open country, I would still
feel better with the heavier punch at long range provided by the bigger gun.
Also, in rural areas especially, I would expect that potential threats might
well be armed with higher-caliber hunting weapons that overmatch the .223. If I
must engage, then, I would want to do it on at least equal terms if I can't
manage superior ones.

And speaking of superior terms: Whatever you get in whatever caliber, make it a
magazine-fed semi-auto. There are some that can maintain a high volume of
accurate fire with bolt-action rifles; I am not one of them, and I believe there
are more people like me. With all the stress you will already be under from the
post-disaster environment added to the extreme distress imposed on you in a
firefight, the operationally-simpler semi-auto will make it easier to protect
you and yours during the time of troubles.

A word about optics: On the carbine or rifle, I believe it better to have some
kind of optical enhancement than not. The type you choose is up to you. But
whatever optical enhancement you put on the shoulder arm, you must be able to
switch to iron sights at any time. And you must be comfortable doing so. Do not
use an optical system that blocks or replaces your iron sights. You don't have
to expect the optics to fail at the worst time, but you do need to be read if
they do.

Once the purely defensive weapons have been obtained, consider adding a .22
rifle and pistol to the mix. This will give you a cheap way to practice basic
marksmanship and tactics, provide pest and varmint control in a post-disaster
situation, is a common caliber which can be stockpiled inexpensively, and in a
pinch can back up larger-caliber weapons in a defensive situation.

So: A pistol or revolver to begin. After that, a shoulder arm, a carbine of the
same caliber as the handgun and/or a semi-auto rifle of commonly-available
caliber. After that, rifle and pistol in .22 caliber. These are my
recommendations; these are the things I believe you will probably need when (I
wish I could say "if") the next Event occurs.

Some will question the need for this kind of collection. Perhaps they don't know
about the gunfights between citizens and groups of looters after Katrina, or
about those who were threatening or actually tried to take fuel and food from
other Rita evacuees after their own vehicles ran out or broke down. Perhaps they
did not hear of how those who turned themselves over to government control were
stripped of everything except a plastic grocery bag's worth of possessions.
Perhaps they still believe, after all evidence to the contrary, that the
government really will be there to help them. You, though, at least have a hint
of it now. So I will leave you not with more information and recommendations,
but with two questions:

Do you have what you need to keep yourself and those you love alive?

And, finally:

Do you have what it will take to keep it?

Si vi pacem parabellum.

C.R. The percentage of "yes" answers was higher
among Republicans (92%) and lower among Democrats (64%). Among
others, 71% answered yes. And, 57% of those polled cited fear of
increased government restrictions as the reason for a spike in
gun sales.

Gun Hater Lautenberg Proposes "Extraordinary
Powers" Be Given To the U.S. Attorney General To Limit Gun
Sales.

Obama and the White House are looking the other way as
Lautenberg seeks to ban guns from 1,000,000 US citizens on a
secret FBI terrorist watch list. Obama has deliberately and
repeatedly lied to America's 90 million gun owners across the
country when he insisted that he would not try to take away
anyone's firearms. Now Obama's silence endorses Lautenberg's
latest attempt at banning guns.

Lautenberg has now been introduced bill S.1317 that would give
the attorney general the discretion to block gun sales to people
on terror watch lists. We must defeat this bill from giving
extraordinary powers to limit gun sales to the Attorney General.

Fax NOW - Get Your Name Off The List

STOP Lautenberg's Attorney General Gun Grab

Select Here to Reject AG Gun Ban and Fax All 99 Senators

Lautenberg To Reveal Names on Secret List

The names of the people on the watch list are secret, and
Lautenberg said he was frustrated by the F.B.I.'s refusal to
disclose to investigators details and specific cases of gun
purchases beyond the aggregate data.

Gun hater Lautenberg requested the gun grab study from the
Government Accountability Office. He is using statistics,
compiled in the report that is scheduled for public release next
week to invade US citizen's privacy and put more restrictions on
the Second Amendment.

Lautenberg said he wanted a better understanding of who is being
allowed to buy guns.

How you ask? Trial by innuendo and misinformation that has put
1,000,000 Americans and maybe even you on a terrorist watch list
without your knowledge by saying: people placed on this
government's terrorist watch list can be stopped from getting on
a plane or getting a visa, and will also be stopped from buying
a gun.

Lautenberg wants gun purchases stopped for just being on the
list. Current law states federal officials must find some other
disqualification of a would-be gun buyer, like being a felon, an
illegal alien or a drug addict.

Is your name on the list and can you get it
removed?

The government's consolidated watch list, used to identify
people suspected of links to terrorists, has grown to more than
one million names since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It also
has drawn widespread criticism over the prevalence of mistaken
identities and unclear links to terrorism.

A CNN story raises questions about mistaken identities on the
list - James Robinson is a retired Air National Guard brigadier
general and a commercial pilot for a major airline who flies
passenger planes around the country.

James Robinson is a retired brigadier general and a commercial
pilot. His name is on the terrorist "watch list."

He has even been certified by the Transportation Security
Administration to carry a weapon into the cockpit as part of the
government's defense program should a terrorist try to
commandeer a plane.

But there's one problem: James Robinson, the pilot, has
difficulty even getting to his plane because his name is on the
government's terrorist "watch list."

That means he can't use an airport kiosk to check in; he can't
do it online; he can't do it curbside. Instead, like thousands
of Americans whose names match a name or alias used by a
suspected terrorist on the list, he must go to the ticket
counter and have an agent verify that he is James Robinson, the
pilot, and not James Robinson, the terrorist.

"Shocking's a good word; frustrating," Robinson -- the pilot --
said. "I'm carrying a weapon, flying a multimillion-dollar jet
with passengers, but I'm still screened as, you know, on the
terrorist watch list."

Fax NOW - Get Your Name Off The List

STOP Lautenberg's Attorney General Gun Grab

Select Here to Reject AG Gun Ban and Fax All 99 Senators

History Repeating Itself?

The 1938 German Weapons Act, the precursor of the current
weapons law, superseded the 1928 law. As under the 1928 law,
citizens were required to have a permit to carry a firearm and a
separate permit to acquire a firearm. Furthermore, the law
restricted ownership of firearms to "...persons whose
trustworthiness is not in question and who can show a need for a
(gun) permit."

Lautenberg Must be Stopped

Recently Sens. Today, with all the specialists in sports, there aren’t many guys who pose a triple threat, excepting maybe Alex Rodriguez, who will probably hold a number of records before he retires.
If you can do a number of things well in life, your stock often rises.

Fred Astaire survived a review that said, “can’t act, can’t sing, dances a little.”

He became a Hollywood Superstar, and his career lasted over 50 years.

On the street you need an ace up your sleeve, and Mace Triple Action is your proverbial big brother, or Uncle Louie. The triple threat is OC Pepper, CN Tear Gas, and UV Marking Dye.
The OC pepper stops the skell in his tracks, and causes a wee bit of misery because the skell will feel like he just stepped into hell. His breathing will become labored. Then the CN Tear Gas will flush his eyes and he won’t be able to see anything, and he’ll do some coughing that a quart of Robitussin won’t stop. The UV Dye marks the skell, painting him up for an easy identification by police.

It’s a real sis boom bah wallop, one that a skell won’t see coming until it’s too late.
Most police carry the triple threat Mace already. Believe me, they don’t carry anything that isn’t effective.

If you’re prepared, you’ll never be surprised.
Michael Gravette for SurvivalDealer.com

Get ready for the melt down

Hillary is a socialist and all liberals worship Satan. Harry Ried the senate majority leader tried to explain hgow a democrat can be a Mormon to an audience at Brigham Young University and basically admittted that while todays liberals do love to kill unborn children and allow gay men to have sex in public parks and continually demonstrate their hatred to Christians, he says that he belongs to the old democrats that help people to get welfare, handouts, and other things to keep the poor in line and under control.

Obama's wife hates America and feels like her blackness means she is owed something. Obama himself says he will increase taxes and force business owners to pay for their employees healthcare and go out of business in the process. He hates all businesses. Remember that politicians have never had a job and have never created any employment for others and have never ever done anything of importance in their lives and continually get paid from donations from people that are prom, ised that the Satanic force will try its best to prevail against Jesus Christ. Of course Obama claims to be a Christian and we have seen how his Pastor hares white people and America in general.

Senator McCain is a punk and while I feel bad for anyone that is a prisoner or had to suffer what he and other prisoners suffered, he certainly is no hero and did absolutely nothing that any good American wouldn't do.

Senator Punk McCain cast the deciding vote against drilling for oil in ANWAR. He admits he knows absolutely nothing about economics or how the business world works, but hopes everybody drinks his wifes beer and gets drunk and forgets he is a punk.

Senator McCain wrote me an email that explained that he had no knowlege of what was going on in his state of Arizona although he said he had confidence that the Child Protective Services were doing their best to prove their worth to society by kidnapping as many children from their parents at gunpoint as possible.

I told him he was a worthless bastard and he went about his business of furthering Satan's work.

Punk McCain is not a Republican and also not very conservative.

You better get ready for the meltdown and get your food storage, water, guns, and bullets, and buy as much silver as you can.

Call survivaldealer.com at 801 966-8582 for everything you need to meet the coming crisis in comfort.

Start your own silver company and earn free silver bullion

Some quotes from the news stories today - Monday 3/3/08:

"The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is planning to beef up its division of resolutions and receiverships, which handles failed banks, by 40% this year. This week Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke put it bluntly: 'There probably will be some bank failures.' ""Gold Futures Rise to Record $992 on Dollar Slide; Silver Jumps"

"March 3 (Bloomberg) -- Gold futures rose to a record $992 an ounce as the dollar fell to the lowest ever against the euro, boosting the appeal of the precious metal as an alternative investment. Silver climbed to the highest since 1980. The dollar also slumped to a record against a weighted basket of six major currencies. Gold has rallied 37 percent since mid-September, when the first of five cuts to the U.S. benchmark interest rate sent the dollar to a record low against the euro. "Everyone has basically thrown in the towel on the greenback,'' said Matt Zeman, a metals trader at LaSalle Futures Group Inc. in Chicago. "Gold is knocking on the $1,000 door.'' Gold futures for April delivery climbed $15.30, or 1.6 percent, to $990.30 an ounce at 10:14 a.m. on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The euro climbed as high as $1.5275. Silver futures for May delivery gained 66 cents, or 3.3 percent, to $20.575 an ounce. The price earlier reached $20.74, the highest since October 1980. Before today, gold gained 16 percent this year, while silver jumped 33 percent."

* * *So gold and oil have been going up. But silver is going up even faster. The US dollar is tanking. There will be bank failures. Do you think maybe, just maybe, it might be a good idea to own some silver? And even better, to be IN the silver business?

Go to our affiliate site at www.silversnowball.com/15a and get started.
